Southeast Lauderdale culminated the Lady Tigers' championship basketball season, receiving their Class 3A State Championship rings this week.
The team gathered at Ryan's restaurant Monday evening to honor the players, staff and coaches. That included a championship ring ceremony.
Guided by Coach Joe Miller and Mississippi Player of the Year Monique Horner, the Lady Tigers (32-8) rolled to their 3A crown, defeating South Pontotoc 81-77 in the title game.
Horner, Mississippi's all-time leading scorer with 4,853 points, was also recognized at the ceremony for being chosen the Clarion Ledger, USA Today and Mississippi Association of Coaches Player of the Year. The senior's jersey will hang for one year in Knoxville, Tenn., in the Women's Hall of Fame, according to Miller, who was also recognized for being selected the Class 3A Girls Coach of the Year by the MAC.
