A Tuscaloosa, Ala., woman was arrested Thursday on two counts of DUI-maiming in connection with a Monday night accident that left two people critically injured.
Lt. Wade Johnson of the Meridian Police Department said Elizabeth Manns, 19, of 9913 Field Stone Lane in Tuscaloosa, was arrested at the Meridian Police Department at 6 p.m. after she came to the department.
The one-car accident, which occurred Monday at about 9:50 p.m. near 22nd Avenue and B Street, is under investigation by the MPD's Advanced Accident Investigation Team, Johnson said.
Two of Manns' passengers were critically injured, he said. Jeremy Ravenscraft, 18, of Meridian Naval Air Station, remains in critical condition after being transported to the University Medical Center in Jackson. Robin Ivy, 23, of Meridian, remains in critical condition at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Johnson said Ivy's child, less than a year old, was treated and released at a local hospital following the accident, as was Manns.
Manns was not arrested at the scene of the accident because before an arrest is made, police officials must consider factors involved in both the investigation and drug screening, Johnson said.
Manns' bond was set at $15,000 on each felony charge, for a total bond of $30,000. No further information is available pending further information, Johnson said.
