Enterprise clinches berth

The Enterprise Lady Bulldogs clinched a berth in the Class 2A state playoffs with Tuesday's 4-2 win over Taylorsville.
Chasity Stingley went 2-for-3 as Enterprise improved to 5-2 in Division 5-2A and 11-7 overall. Both teams had eight hits.
Philadelphia 21-15
Southeast 13-9
Philadelphia took a pair of Division 5-3A wins over Southeast Lauderdale Tuesday at Philadelphia.
In the opener, winning pitcher Mandy Eakes had three hits including a double and triple for Philadelphia. Shenique Brass had two doubles and a single. Candace Griffin had three singles. Jhaun Sparnecht had a single and a triple. Mandy Sharp had two singles, while Ginger Vowell had a triple and Latisha Johnson a double.
Southeast got a single and a homer from Jennifer Butler, a single and a double from Stacy McMullan, two singles from LeAnn Workman and a triple apiece from Lindsey Raines and Lindsey Graham.
In the second game, Philadelphia (12-9 overall, 6-4 in 5-3A) got three hits from Griffin and Eakes, and two each from Brass, Sparnecht, Vowell, and Brittany Phillips.
Southeast (4-22, 3-7) got three hits from Workman, and two each from Raines, McMullan, Madison Davis, and Heather Ward.
Bay Springs 12
Newton 11
Debra Gray homered and Kotreece Bender had two singles in Newton's Division 5-2A loss at Newton Tuesday.
Newton fell to 6-13 overall and 0-6 in 5-2A. Bay Springs improved to 3-4 in 5-2A.
New Hope 9
Neshoba Central 3
The MCC Tournament champion Lady Trojans clinched a playoff berth with Tuesday's win at New Hope.
Lindsey Smith, Amber Dean, and Jessie Nowell each had two hits for Neshoba, 12-15 overall 2-3 in Division 2-4A.
Laura Lee Holman hit two homers and had four RBIs for New Hope, 27-4 overall and 6-0 in 2-4A.
Newton County 19
Carthage 2
The Lady Cougars hammered 20 hits in Monday's Division 5-3A road win.
Newton County, ranked No. 3 in the state, scored six runs in both the second and fourth frames.
Joy Cavenaugh had two singles and a homer for Newton County. Sylendria Johnson had a single and a homer. Winning pitcher Suzanne Chaney (22-3) had a single and a triple. Krissi Harris, Betsy Clark, and Holly Jackson each had a pair of singles. Krystal Burton added a triple.
Newton County improved to 22-3 overall, 8-1 in 5-3A.
Philadelphia 13
Choctaw Central 8
Philadelphia got three hits each from Mandy Sharp, Jhaun Sparnecht, Brittany Phillips, and Lindsey Bostick to defeat the Lady Warriors in Division 5-3A action Monday at Choctaw Central.
Winning pitcher Mandy Eakes had a double and a triple.
Choctaw Central got a 3-for-4 outing from Natisha Isaac. LaChante Joe and Dyranda Jimmie both went 2-for-3 with a double.
