Leeanne Teresa Alawine of Batesville began the journey of a lifetime in August as she enlisted in the United States Navy for guaranteed training in the aviation administration field.
The new sailor is the daughter of Johnny Yeager and Brenda Alawine of Collinsville. She is a graduate of West Lauderdale High School.
The Navy's Aviation Maintenance Administration handles the many clerical, administrative and managerial duties necessary to keep aircraft maintenance activities running smoothly. They plan, schedule and coordinate the maintenance workload, including inspections and modifications to aircraft and equipment.
Petty Officer Donnell White of the Navy Recruiting Station in Clarksdale said, "After her initial recruit training, Alawine will be assigned six weeks of advanced training in Meridian before reporting to her duty assignment."
The new service member will depart for recruit training in Great Lakes, Ill., and the beginning of her Naval career Nov. 7.
