Bay Springs topples Enterprise

The Enterprise High Bulldogs had high hopes of walking into Bay Springs and pulling off a huge upset, but those hopes would be put to waste.
The Bay Springs defense held Enterprise to 128 yards in total offense and forced five turnovers to take a 36-10 division win.
The entire evening was filled with turnovers on both ends of the field. Bay Springs opened up the game with a seven-play, 57-yard drive that was capped off by a two-yard touchdown run from Zack McCrudy to put the Bulldogs on the board first.
The two-point conversion failed as Bay Springs held an early 6-0 lead with 9:05 left in the opening quarter. Enterprise committed their first turnover on the night on its first play from scrimmage.
Don Moore threw an errant pass into the waiting arms of Josh Crosby for an interception and give Bay Springs possession of the football once again. After two holding penalties and personal foul Bay Springs was forced to punt the ball back to Enterprise.
Enterprise quickly coughed up the ball again and this time it was a fumble that was recovered by Ray Smith.
The Enterprise defense responded by forcing a fumble of their own and Zeb Swain came up with the lose ball.
Bay Springs capitalized on a bad pass by Moore as Cedric Page intercepted the pass and returned it 47 yards for the score. The two-point try was good as the homestanding Bulldogs led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Enterprise finally cracked the scoreboard on a successful 32-yard field goal by Michael Swancey to make the score 14-3 at the end of the half.
Bay Springs opened up the second half by recovering a fumble to set up yet another score. McCurdy score once again for the Bulldogs and this time it was on a one yard run to extend the lead to 22-3 with 10:10 remaining in the third quarter of action.
After an exchange of possessions, Bay Springs put the game way out of reach on a two-yard touchdown run from Crosby to give the Bulldogs a huge 30-3 lead with 11:22 left in the game.
Bay Springs put the final nail in the coffin on a blocked punt by Devin Love that was also returned 21 yards for a touchdown and give the Bulldogs a 36-3 lead.
Enterprise did however manage a touchdown as Adam Simpson connected with Kelly Jimmerson for a 25-yard strike to make the score 36-10 and that would eventually be the final score.
Bay Springs improved to 5-1 and 1-0 in division play. Enterprise fell to 4-2 and 0-1 in division play. Bay Springs host Taylorsville.
in another big division showdown. Enterprise will be at home against Sumrall in division action.
