Meridian police arrested a second suspect Saturday in connection with the Sept. 28 armed robbery of Amoco Food Shop No. 10 at 4910 Highway 493.
Lt. Wade Johnson, spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, said Gavin McAllister, 19, of 918 38th Ave., was arrested about 12:30 p.m. as a result of a continued investigation into the case.
The robbery occurred about midnight, and police arrested one man, 19-year-old Kevin King, about four hours later after a disturbance outside a business on North Frontage Road, Johnson said.
Two men struck the store clerk with a blunt object and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of beer, Johnson said. He said the clerk was treated and released at a local hospital.
Police said when they arrested King that a second suspect remained at large.
A spokesman at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility said McAllister was released Saturday afternoon on a $25,000 bond.
