Mr. and Mrs. Gary O. Parker III of Brandon announce the engagement of their daughter, Neely Elizabeth, to William Elliott Umphlett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Winwood Brinkley Umphlett of Meridian.
Wedding vows will be exchanged Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Pinelake Baptist Church in Brandon.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.O. Parker Jr. of Magee and the late Dr. and Mrs. Schubert B. Simmons of Newton.
Miss Parker is a graduate of Brandon High School. She is a suma cum laude graduate of Mississippi State University, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority.
She is employed as a teacher at Rouse Elementary in the Rankin County School System.
The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of William Mohead Gray of Grenada and the late Clyde Elizabeth Gray and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dillard Umphlett of Charleston, S.C.
Mr. Umphlett is a graduate of Meridian High School and Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.
He is employed as a real estate consultant for Home Claims Services based in Mobile, Ala.
A reception will be held at the Country Club of Jackson following the ceremony.
