Anna Jordan and John Wesley Cumberland, both of Starkville, were married Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Brandon, with the Rev. Brian Carroll officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas William Jordan of Brandon, Linda Carol Flowers of Jackson and Michael Floyd Cumberland of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bride are Dorothy Lackey Peden of Starkville and the late Dr. Guy Theron Peden Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adrian Jordan of Yazoo City.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Edna Sullivan Flowers of Jackson and the late John Wesley Flowers; Mary Henderson Cumberland of Meridian and the late Johnnie Floyd Cumberland.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Paula Kitchens, harpist; Ed Thomas, organist; and Sherry Shaw, vocalist.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a strapless gown of embroidered tulle over satin with a full tulle skirt scattered with beaded embroidered medallions. Her elbow-length veil fell from a tiara of crystals and pearls.
Lacie Jordan Smith of Murfreesboro, Tenn., attended her sister as matron of honor. Maid of honor was Shannon Marie Hanner of Brandon.
Other attendants were Emily Alice Agent of Madison, Leslie Glenn Arnold of Grenada and Kathryn Grave Taylor of Jackson. Junior bridesmaids were Taylor Christian Cumberland of Meridian, sister of the bridegroom, and Georgia Kathleen Jordan of Yazoo City, cousin of the bride.
Honorary bridesmaids were Elizabeth DuBois Coleman of Hattiesburg, Mandie Mallory Meier of Deerfield, Ill., and Neely Johnson Wilbourn of Starkville, cousins of the bride.
Johnna McAtee Jordan of Yazoo City was flower girl.
Michael Floyd Cumberland II of Jackson served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Steven Armon Acton of Seattle, Matthew Donald Cothern of Jackson, Charles Vernon Liggett of Starkville and Michael Benjamin Sanford of New York City. Ushers were Brian Peden Jordan of Ridgeland and Thomas Riley Jordan of Brandon, brothers of the bride.
A reception was held at Northpointe Barn in Jackson following the ceremony. Music was provided by "Rhythm and Rain" of Gulfport.
After a honeymoon in San Destin, Fla., the couple resides in Starkville.
