Ralph Null to
sign books
Ralph Null, well known for his southern garden style of design, will have a book signing 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at Reflections of the Modern Garden. Null, former director of the retail floral design program at Mississippi State University, will be signing his new book, "Spring Arrangements from the Southern Garden."
Null has exhibited and taught design classes in London, Cape Town, Sydney and Tokyo. His design presentations have been featured at the Smithsonian Institute, the Virginia Museum of Fine Art and the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Christmas registration
The Salvation Army will be accepting more applications for Christmas assistance. Applications will be taken Wednesday through Friday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Photo identification is required for everyone in the household. Make-A-Wish
meets Thursday
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi will hold its monthly Meridian Volunteer Luncheon from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Rush Medical Group. The session will take place in the 6th floor boardroom. A Wish Granter Training Session will be 5:45 p.m.-8:45 p.m. the same day and place.

Mediator barbecue
set for Nov. 10
The 32nd Annual Church of the Mediator Barbecue is set for 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 10 at the church. Plates will include pork or beef barbecue, cole slaw, baked beans and Texas toast for $6. Three-pound packages of pulled pork or beef will be sold.
A freezer/bake sale featuring casseroles, gumbo, red beans and rice, breads and desserts will be held in the parish center. Arts and crafts and children's activities will also be offered. All proceeds will go to local charities.

Stephen Kirkpatrick
to hold book-signing
Wildlife photographer Stephen Kirkpatrick will sign copies of his new book, "Wilder Mississippi," on Nov. 10, from noon-2 p.m. The book-signing session will take place at Hart-Hall Ltd., 1521 24th Ave.
Kirkpatrick has published more than 2,000 photographs in books and magazines. His photo collections are accompanied by passages describing the lure of the Mississippi wilderness.
Information needed
for book on veterans
A book is being prepared on the history of Neshoba County veterans who served during World War II. Information needed includes pictures and brief stories of the men and women who served.

Fall Variety Shop

writing workshop
The Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library will host a free writing workshop Nov. 10, from 1 p.m.-3 p.m., at the library.
Richelle Putnam, an award-wining author and instructor, will conduct the workshop. Putnam is the author of the children's book, "Fallout," and has won many writing awards.

Veteran's Day
observances set
The Memory Tree Foundation invites the public to participate in Veteran's Day activities Nov. 8-11. Yellow ribbons will be hung Nov. 8-9 at the Doughboy Monument. The Veteran's Day Memorial Service is set for Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., at the monument. The Veteran's Day parade will begin at 3 p.m.
Pictures with Santa'

The annual "Pictures with Santa" at the F.W. Williams House will take place Nov. 11 from noon-3 p.m. Pictures will be taken in the parlor of the Victorian home and will feature an elaborately decorated Christmas tree, as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Photography will be provided by Wayne Rawson's Portrait Studio. Photo packages range from $20 to $35. The event is sponsored by the 1897 Daisies. Proceeds go towards the maintenance of Merrehope and the F.W. Williams House.
