Meridian Little Theatre is bringing in the holiday spirit with the opening of "Nuncrackers" on Thursday.
They're back, the zany nuns and brothers of the Order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken and Mount Saint Helen's School.
The scene is set for a Christmas concert as everybody's favorite nuns warm up for their first television special. The show is the annual Christmas program put on at Mount Saint Helen's, opening with the rousing "Christmas Time is Nunsense Time."
The cast consists of Reverend Mother (Jackie Banes), Sister Mary Hubert (Karon Leach), Sister Robert Ann (Jennifer Colburn), Sister Amnesia (Sidney Covington) and Father Virgil (Zena Limerick). In addition, there are the Mount Saint Helen's students (Matt Crane, Bethany Dearman, Maggie Freyaldenhoven, Ryan Jimenez, Daniel May, Lindsey Summerlin and Chris Williams).
Guest director is Carla Warner. Sharon Howard is the choreographer, and Wayne McInnis is music director with Carey Smith and Scott Kratzer in the orchestra.
The fun-filled show includes some traditional carols in the overture and as underscoring, plus some Christmas Carol spoofs including "It's a Wonderful, Nun-derful Life", and " We Three Kings of Orient Are Us!" There is a sing-a-long based on the titles of 25 popular Christmas carols that everyone knows. Of course, the show is filled with traditional "Nunsense-sense of humor" one-liners that have made the three previous "Nunsense" shows so popular.
Guest tickets are $16. for adults, $14. for students, senior citizens and military. The MLT Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. For more information call 482-6371.
