Profile 2002: The Fabric of America

By Staff
Dec. 3, 2001
You are invited to submit a story, letter or column to The Meridian Star's annual reader-written "Profile" edition. The theme this year is "Fabric of America" and it's about all the things, small and large, that bind our lives together, that make the United States like no other country in the world.
The edition publishes at the end of February, but the seven sections that make it up will be printed ahead of time.
The first section to roll off the press will be "Homes." What makes Meridian home? What makes a house a home? Did you build your house? What was your last home improvement project?
Also in this section, we're looking for "Letters Home" from active duty military and reservists called up after Sept. 11. Let us know if your son, daughter, wife, husband, uncle or brother is serving either at home or overseas.
Each section will also include survey questions. Here's one from the first section: "If you had to pack for a five-year space mission, and could only take one small object in addition to family photos to remind you of home, what would you pack and why?"
Call if you have questions, or want to talk about your story idea. Submissions for "Homes" should be received by Jan. 1. They can be sent by e-mail to smonk@themeridianstar.com, or by regular mail at:
