CLINTON The Mississippi Private School Association returns to Mississippi College's Robinson-Hale Stadium on Friday with its annual All-Star Game. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
The game will be something of a rematch for Wayne Academy head coach Tom Boszor and his star player Cory Cochran. The Jaguars fell to Trinity Episcopal 14-7 on Saturday at Robinson-Hale in the Academy A Championship game.
Trinity will be represented by head coach David King as an assistant and star player Chad Ridley on the South team.
Boszor, who completed his first season at Wayne with a 12-2 record and a North State A title, will be an assistant coach on North All-Star head coach Mike McClendon's staff. McClendon is the head coach of Bayou Academy in Cleveland.
Winston Academy head coach Steve Kelly will also be an assistant on the North staff.
Cochran, one of Wayne's top performers this season, will suit up for the North. He is one of six players from the Meridian Star coverage area who will play for the North. Two other players will suit up for the South All-Stars.
Joining Cochran on the North team will be Heidelberg players Heath Ainsworth and Joe Conner. Ainsworth led Heidelberg in rushing which included a 232-yard effort in a 35-0 win over Wayne Academy for the District 2-Academy A title.
Conner, a 6-foot-3, 315-pound linemen, was the Rebels' top defensive player at nose guard.
Winston Academy will have two players on the North in quarterback Scott Peterson and fullback/linebacker Jason Fulcher.
Sylva-Bay Academy will be represented by guard Buddy Welborn (6-3, 230).
Playing for the South will be Lamar School's Zach Moore. Moore finished as the Raiders' top receiver this season and was also a leader on defense.
He'll be joined by Leake Academy's Luke Culpepper, a 6-2, 190-pound tight end/strong safety.
The South All-Stars will be under the direction of Silliman Institute Head Coach Marvin Holland. Holland led Silliman to a perfect 14-0 season and the AAA State title with a 14-12 win over North Delta School.
