No bowl game for Ole Miss Rebels

They knew it was probably going to come, but it still hurt.
With nine bowl eligible teams, most observers expected at least one of the Southeastern Conference's teams to be left out.
They were right, and that team was Ole Miss.
The University of Alabama a team the Rebels beat 27-24 earlier in the season picked up what was likely the eighth and last bid when the Tide was chosen to play in the Independence Bowl against Iowa State.
Ole Miss finished the year at 7-4, while Alabama was 6-5.
Ole Miss athletic director John Shafer was also disturbed.
