A second suspect in the armed robbery of a local businessman was in Lauderdale County Jail today after being arrested in Sumter County, Ala., last weekend.
Lee T. Amerson, 21, of 1719 Highway 19 North, Apartment 47, is being held on $50,000 bond. Another suspect, Tracey Moore, 28, of 1924 26th Ave., has been in jail since Thursday.
Both are charged in the armed robbery of Meridian businessman Ralph Morgan and his wife, Elizabeth.
Two armed and masked men dressed in camouflage entered the Morgan home before dawn Thursday and robbed the couple at gunpoint.
The gunmen tied the couple up, threw them in a closet and ransacked their home, taking an undisclosed amount of money, handguns and jewelry.
Amerson was arrested early Saturday in Sumter County after the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department received an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers.
Amerson returned to Lauderdale County on Monday after signing papers allowing the transfer of his custody. He faces charges of armed robbery
