The Clarkdale High School soccer team picked up a 4-3 victory over Wayne County Thursday night in the final regular season game of the season. The Bulldogs, now 11-4, are watching tonight's Newton County – Philadelphia game. a Newton County win would put Clarkdale in the state playoffs.
Allowing people to bait deer hunting area with corn or other grain could do long-term damage to Mississippi's deer population, state wildlife officials say. Despite those objections, a House committee on Thursday approved a bill to allow hunting in baited fields. The bill moves to the full house and similar measures await consideration in a Senate committee.

PHILADELPHIA The red-hot Neshoba Central Lady Rockets were cooled off a bit Saturday night. The host school in the Clash of the Titans III, Neshoba had an eight-game win streak snapped by fourth-ranked Lloyd Star 53-45 before an estimated crowd of 1,300 in the second game of the tripleheader.
COLUMBIA, S.C. Chuck Evans hit a 38-foot jump shot at the buzzer, giving State a 60-57 Southeastern Conference basketball victory over South Carolina Saturday. Also during the game, Joe Rhett, a senior forward for the Gamecocks who plays with a pacemaker in his heart, collapsed in the second half.

Boo Ramsey, a junior at West Lauderdale High School, has big plans of playing basketball at the next level.
Ramsey is in his fifth year as a starter for the Knights of West Lauderdale.
