MCC plans busy Homecoming week

Meridian Community College will hold a number of festivities throughout next week, counting down to its Homecoming game and masquerade ball set for Feb. 9.
Homecoming day will include a 2 p.m. reception and dedication of the Tommy Dulaney Room in the college's Webb Center. There will also be a recognition of Talon Club honorees (members of the MCC staff who have at least 30 years of service), a salute to Dulaney, induction of Hall of Fame honorees and the introduction of the Homecoming court.
Dulaney, founder and owner of Structural Steel Services, is also chairman of the MCC Board of Trustees and chairman of the board of the East Mississippi Business Development Corp.
The Homecoming Game will pit the Lady Eagles against Southern Union of Wadley, Ala., with top-off set for 6 p.m. in the Ivy Sports Center. MCC President Scott Elliott will crown the Homecoming Queen at halftime.
Events scheduled for Homecoming week:
Mardi Gras Monday
11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Battle of the Bands at the Student Union.
7 p.m.: East Central Community College and MCC meet in basketball at the Ivy Sports Center.
8 p.m.: Float stuffing outside of the Ivy Sports Center.
Three On Three Tuesday
3 p.m.: Three-on-three basketball tournament at the outside court.
8 p.m.: Float stuffing.
Pajama Party Wednesday
7 p.m.: Movie night at the Student Union.
7 p.m.: Court practice at the Ivy Sports Center.
8 p.m.: Float stuffing.
School Parade Thursday
Noon: Parade around campus.
5 p.m.: Bourbon Street Block Party outside the Ivy Sports Center.
6 p.m.: MCC Lady Eagles meet Delgado of New Orleans in a basketball game.
8 p.m.: MCC meets Delgado in a men's basketball game.
8 p.m.: Float stuffing.
Green &White Friday
3 p.m.: Parade of court around MCC campus.
8 p.m.: Bonfire and pep rally on the MCC campus.
8 p.m.: Float stuffing and finishing touches.
Homecoming
Saturday
2 p.m.: Alumni reception in the Dulaney Room.
1 p.m.: Wallace Hanceville, Ala., plays MCC in the baseball season-opener at Scaggs Field.
6 p.m.: Homecoming game with the crowning of the queen scheduled for halftime in the Ivy Sports Center; a masquerade ball follows the completion of the game.
