KANSAS CITY, Mo. The smallest man in the game made the biggest shot. Jason Harrison, Ole Miss' 5-foot-5 point guard, hit a 3-pointer with 46 seconds left as the shot clock ran down, boosting the Rebels past Notre Dame 59-56 on Sunday. Ole Miss advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals for the first time in schol history. Harrison connected to make it 57-55 right after the Irish had taken a 55-54 lead their first of the second half on Ryan Humphrey's 10-footer.
Half of last year's Final Four flopped Sunday. North Carolina and Florida were eliminated in back-to-back shockers in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Seventh-seeded Penn State beat the No. 2 Tar Heels 82-74 in the Superdome in New Orleans right after No. 11 Temple took care of the No. 3 Gators 75-54 on the same court in the South. Penn State, in the round of 16 for the first time since 1955, plays Temple in Atlanta on Friday.

The beginning of the division schedule usually causes a team to perform at its best. In their 5-5A opener against Jackson Murrah Tuesday evening, the Meridian High Wildcats played at just about the highest level possible for anyone, pounding out 16 hits and five home runs in thumping the Mustangs 18-0 at John Moss Field.
Northeast Lauderdale has developed nasty habit of allowing opponents to explode for several runs in one inning. It happened again Tuesday night against Laurel. The Tornadoes sent 11 players to the plate in a whirlwind fifth inning, transforming thre hits, three walks and two NEL errors into six runs. The Tornadoes went on to claim a 13-4 victory over the homestanding Trojans at Glynn Frazier Field.

Kemper County's Kevin Granger has been selected to play in the second Mississippi-Alabama All-Star basketball game. The Mississippi-Alabama game will be played June 13 at Mississippi College in Clinton. Jackson Murrah center Othella Harrington and Lawrence County forward Vandale Thomas will join Granger on the 12-player Mississippi roster.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. Tanya Hansen turned the opening round of the NCAA tournament into a bit-time player at Rutgers. Hansen celebrated her 22nd birthday in style Wednesday by scoring 29 points to not only lead Rutgers to a 93-63 victory over Southern Mississippi but also gave coach Theresa Grentz her 400th career victory.

The Answer …
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Sports Faces …
Dustin Hamrick
Dustin Hamrick has already had a memorable baseball season and there is still nearly six weeks left.
Back in late February, Hamrick belted his first career home run in a game against the Meridian Wildcats.
Hamrick really likes his current team. They are currently 12-4 on the season after winning two games in the Quitman Tournament.
