Mr. and Mrs. Gene Colburn of Amory announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Gale, to Jonathan Chapman Beattie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Beattie of Chambersburg, Pa.
The wedding will be held Saturday, May 25, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church in Meridian.
Miss Colburn is the granddaughter of Annie Colburn and the late John Lee Colburn, Ada Herring and the late Archie Herring, all of Amory.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Amory High School and received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi University for Women. She received a master's degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
While attending MUW, she was a member of the Baptist Student Union, Silhouette Social Club, College Activities Board and Mortar Board National Honor Society.
Miss Colburn is employed as director of the Baptist Student Union at Meridian Community College.
Mr. Beattie is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Beattie and the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Clarke, all of Chambersburg.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Chambersburg Senior High School and received a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He received his master's degree from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Calif.
While attending the U.S. Naval Academy, he was a member of the Offshore Sailing Team, Economics Club and Navigators Campus Ministry.
Mr. Beattie is a pilot in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Naval Air Station Norfolk, Va.
A reception will be held at the church following the ceremony. Family and friends are invited to attend.
