JACKSON Ashley Satcher has never been so excited to be covered with shaving cream.
The lone senior on Clarkdale High School's fast-pitch softball team had tears of joy welling up in her eyes as teammates celebrated by covering each other with shaving cream and silly string following their 2-0 win in the final game of the MHSAA Class 2A/1A Fast-Pitch Softball Championship Series on Sunday afternoon at V.A. Fields.
While Satcher will leave Clarkdale High School with one fast-pitch title under her belt, she predicts her teammates will do much better.
Clarkdale won Sunday's opener 10-6, before dropping the second game 12-5, setting up the deciding third game.
While there were many stars in Clarkdale's two-out-of-three win over North State Champion Mooreville, there was one that definitely stood out.
Sophomore left-hander Emily Howard picked up a pair of complete-game victories on Sunday, including a shutout in the title game.
Although Mooreville did pick up seven hits in the title game, Howard was able to get the big out when she needed it, including setting down the Lady Troopers in order in the bottom of the seventh inning.
