Corey Anglin delivered a game winning single in final inning of action to put El Dardo one step closer to a regional title by a final score of 2-1.
The El Dorado team trailed the entire contest before coming up with a little offense in the seventh inning to take the thrilling win over Bentonville. El Dorado will square off in an elimination game against Jefferson Parish for the right to meet the loser of the Meridian-Tri-County loser.
Bentonville had a golden opportunity to score some runs in the opeing inning, but some great defense from El Dorado was the big difference. Seth Walter led the first inning off with a single for a fast start for Bentonville and stole second base.
Pierre Poquette reached on an error to put a pair of runners aboard for Bentonville, but both runners were thrown out on some terrible baserunning to end the early rally.
El Dorado also had a huge rally in the third inning that was started by Pete Mills on a single and Matt Alexander then reached on a error to put two runners on for Bentonville.
The rally was over when El Dorado turned a beautiful double play to end the scary inning. In the very next inning El Dorado struck for the first run of the game on a pair of defensive mistakes and give the El Dorado team the 1-0 lead after five innings of play.
Bentonville answered right back with an RBI single by Lee Ross to tie the game at 1-1 and set up the drama for the seventh inning.
Cannon Lester led the seventh off with a hard single and Jess Lockey also followed with a single to bring Anglin to the plate. Anglin took a pitch into right to drive in the winning run and give El Dorado the narrow 2-1 victory.
