The 15th annual Meridian Symphony Orchestra Crawfish Boil will kick off Saturday at Highland Park with fun, music and plenty of food.
The boil is scheduled from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Frank Cochran Center. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children 11 years old and younger will be admitted free.
Paul Entrekin, event co-chairman with Angela Fryery and Alex Shields, said 7,000 pounds of crawfish will be cooked with side orders of corn and potatoes.
Drinks will include soft drinks and beer, and pizza will also be available. Local rock and roll band De Ja Blue will provide live music and t-shirts will be sold.
About 1,200 people are expected to attend based on past attendance records, Entrekin said, describing the crawfish boil as "a huge social event."
Entrekin said proceeds from the boil help pay for orchestra concerts.
