A family of four survived what could have been a fatal crash Saturday when their Toyota Highlander came into collision with an 18-wheeler.
The accident occurred Saturday about 3:30 p.m. on Interstate 20/59, just west of 29th Avenue, near exit 152.
DeBord said the Toyota Highlander apparently entered the 18-wheeler's lane after striking the median. The resulting collision caused the Highlander to flip over, coming to rest on its roof.
The members of the Texas family were transported to a Meridian hospital, where they were treated for what were believed to be minor injuries. DeBord said the driver of the truck was not injured.
DeBord declined to release the names of the people involved in the accident.
