Kathleen Dudley Valentine and Colby Kent Calcote, both of Brookhaven, were married Friday, March 28, 2003, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Patrick Noonan officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. William Dennis Valentine of Brookhaven, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Smith and the late Kent Calcote.
Grandparents of the bride are Mrs. William Burrus Apperson of Meridian and the late Dr. Apperson, and Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Valentine of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Varnado and Mary Ellen Kimble, all of Brookhaven.
Nuptial music was provided by Durr Walker, organist; Domenick Dipaolo, trumpet; Bill and Kathy Phillips, Susan Smith and Margaret Weathersby, vocalists.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a designer gown of Duchess satin featuring a Basque waistline and princess skirt that swept into a chapel-length train. Her cathedral-length veil of tiered illusion was edged in silk bias ribbon.
She carried am arm bouquet of Polo roses and green dendrobium orchids tied with double-faced satin ribbon.
Eleanor St. Clair Valentine of Brookhaven, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.
Other attendants were, Elizabeth Boerner Belk of Jackson, Stephanie Jean Butts of Jackson, Callie Lane Calcote of Brookhaven, sister of the bridegroom, Dawn Conner Denton of New York, N.Y., Dorothy Elizabeth Houston and Elizabeth Kyle Kimbriel, both of Oxford, Mary Katherine Loftin of Jackson, Erin Ruth Martin of Rosemark, Tenn., Lindsay Sterling Sanders of New York, Shelley Tullos Sanford of Memphis, Tenn., Melissa Ivy Smith and Helen Page Trewolla, both of Jackson.
Flower girl was Caroline Dimmitt Compton of Meridian.
Scott Smith of Brookhaven served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Brandon Roland Belanger of Houma, La., Bradley Shea Calcote, Karsten Calcote Case, Dennis Jason Childress, Nathan Lance Newman, Brett Crawford Smith and Jereme Calcote Smith, all of Brookhaven, Shane Stanton Case of Brandon, Casey Barrett Edwards of Jackson, Daniel Timothy Haire of Union Church, Daniel Patrick Stout of Pensacola, Fla., and Patrick Covington Valentine of Brookhaven, brother of the bride.
Program attendants were Mary Catherine McDonnieal, Anna C. Moak and Rosemary Moak.
A reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Smith following the ceremony.
Assisting at the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Smith and Mrs. John Behan.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's parents hosted a dinner at Fernwood Country Club.
On the day of the wedding, the bridegroom and groomsmen were entertained with lunch at Belle Rosen. The bridesmaid's brunch was held at the home of Dr. Anne Henderson.
Spring Branch Farm, the home of Dr. and Mrs. James Hall, was the site of a luncheon to honor of out-of-town guests.
The couple departed the reception, as the guests tossed rose petals, to an awaiting antique Rolls Royce.
After a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple resides in Meridian.
