Bowling rolls a strike at Dixie Bowl Lanes

The bowling competition enjoyed another successful weekend in the State Games as bowlers came to Dixie Bowl Lanes on Saturday and Sunday to compete.
Bowlers were able to compete in divisions according to their averages and some high scores were rolled to win medals.
Adults bowled six games in the competition while the youth bowlers rolled four.
In the youth bowling division, Matthew Alawine bowled a 594 to take gold in Division 1 for the boys. Scott Bounds followed with a 412 to take silver and Bradley Willis took bronze with a 392 series.
In the girls' Division 1, Olivia Taylor bowled a 539 to take the gold medal and Emily Skinner took silver with a 341.
Tyler Dillon rolled a nice 509 to pick up the gold in Division 2 boys competition.
Shalane Fike took the Division 3 girls' gold medal with a 685 while Kaitlin Lindsey took gold in the girls' Division 4 competition with a 599.
Some of the tightest youth scores came in the Division 4 and Division 5 boys competition.
Steven Carson bowled a 655 to take gold in Division 4. Albert Edmonds rolled a 585 to take silver while Adam Carson was a close third with a 579 series.
Thomas Vandemeer took gold in Division 5 with an 800, holding off second place finisher Matthew Dillon (783) and bronze medal winner Curtis Woods (776).
The women also had some close competition during the event.
Marilyn Fike took gold in Division 1 with a 754.
Bobbie Barnett rolled a 912 to take gold in Division 2 while Tami Lee bowled an 887 to take silver. Mary Edmonds placed third in the division with an 856.
Pam Cooper's 1096 beat Eunice Dillard's 1051 to claim gold in Division 3. Teresa Nance took bronze with a 1036.
Judy Bounds rolled a 1193 to take gold in Division 4. Janice Kasper beat Debbie Jones by one pin with a 1075 series to take silver.
In Division 5 competition, Mary Copeland slipped by Nita Fike by eight pins with a 1059 to take gold.
Not to be outdone, the men had some good competition during the weekend.
Jeff Pierce rolled a 1063 to take gold in the men's Division 3 competition. Clyde Clay took silver with a 941 and Arlie Ramsey took bronze with an 853.
Kerry Lowe bowled a 1281 to beat Johnathan Berg's 1239 in Division 4. Gene Derusha placed third in the division with a 1230.
C.O. Gray's 1480 was good enough to give him a gold medal in Division 5 action. Dustin Gray closed out the competition with a 1276 series and a silver medal while Peter Palissi rolled a 1251 for bronze.
In the final and closest men's division, Rodney Bounds beat M.A. Copeland by three pins to take the gold medal. Bounds rolled a 1341 for the medal. Chuck Gray finished with a bronze medal after a 1327 series.
