Four area players to hit court at MC

Four area basketball players have been selected to play in the Mississippi Sports Medicine All-Star Basketball Games Thursday at Mississippi College's A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton.
Chosen to the 39th-annual girls all-star game are Kristina Gardner of Class 3A state runner-up West Lauderdale and Kotreece Bender of Class 2A state semifinalist Newton. Both will play on the South team. Gardner signed with Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., while Bender inked with East Central Community College in Decatur.
Area players picked for the 49th-annual boys all-star contest are Calvin Moore of West Lauderdale and Noxubee County's Omarr Conner. Moore will play for the South squad, while Conner will represent the North.
Tipoff for the girls game is slated for 6:30 p.m. with the boys contest to follow. Tickets for the two games are $5.
Also on the South girls roster are Devin Necaise of Hancock, Jessica Melton of Bogue Chitto, Nikki Smith of Poplarville, Aiesha Collins of Hazlehurst, Carmen Labat of Class 4A state champion Bay St. Louis, Kenisha Daniels of East Marion, Latoya Carson of Long Beach, Travalyn Smith of Jefferson County, and LaToya Anderson of Laurel.
South coaches are Freda Craft of Hazlehurst and former West Lauderdale coach Wayne Fortenberry of Purvis.
Completing the South boys roster are Jammie Evans of Raleigh, Torry Crumedy of Dexter, Joey Jackson of Mendenhall, Luke Lofton of West Lincoln, Earl Fortenberry and Joey Daly of Class 4A state semifinalist Picayune, Courtenay Brown of Gulfport, D.J. Carr of McComb, Taurean Carter of Class 2A state champion Richton, and Garland Stewart of Pass Christian.
South coaches are Hilton Harrell of McComb and Bill Ricks of Greene County.
On the North girls roster are Vancherricka Mitchell of Cleveland East Side, Jenny Young of Senatobia, Helen Wright of Independence, Shalonda Williams of Vicksburg, Kelly Yates of Class 1A state champion Myrtle, Farrah Jones of New Albany, Stephanie Mukoro of Amanda Elzy, Ida Edwards of Class 4A state semifinalist Yazoo City, April Reeder of South Pontotoc, Ashley Jones of Kossuth, and Jazmin Cain of Mound Bayou J.F. Kennedy.
North coaches are Phil Douglas of Independence and Willie Thomas of West Bolivar.
Rounding out the North boys roster are Quentin Fox of Lafayette County, Robert Fox of Calhoun City, Jarvis Acker of Nettleton, Stephen Cooper of Southaven, Chris Ames of Jackson Wingfield, Eric Williams of Class 4A state runner-up Jackson Lanier, Stanley Turner of Ashland, Galvin Davis of Corinth, Lamar Sanders of Hickory Flat, Reggie Gunn of Class 2A state semifinalist Okolona, and Beau Gibb of Oxford.
North coaches are Drew Tyler of Oxford and Bobby Ford of Okolona.
