A longtime Meridian pastor, the Rev. Dr. W. Otis Seal, has written a book called "This is … The Work of God Gathering the Drifting."
It is a collection of a just a few of Seal's sermons, delivered in more than 100 revivals in 11 states and overseas.
Seal doesn't claim credit for all the thoughts, ideas and originality in the book. He said much of the material derives from other books he has read and studied over the years.
Chapter 2 is devoted to a sermon called "Life is a Game Play to Win." Seal used Hebrews 12:1-2 as his guide.
Seal is a native of Picayune. He graduated from Mississippi State University and served in World War II. He attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in 1948-49 and New Orleans Seminary in 1950.
Since August 1957, he has pastored Calvary Baptist Church in Meridian. Seal was instrumental in starting Calvary's fully accredited private Christian school for first- through sixth-graders. The school is in its seventh year of operation.
Seal has also compiled and edited "103 Years of Trial and Triumph," a history of his home church, Pine Grove Baptist Church of Picayune.
Seal is now a retired preacher and rancher. He has been a breeder of American quarter horses for more than 40 years.
