Services for Samuel "Sam" Ballard will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Vern Rogers and Bob Null officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Ballard, 77, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a veteran of World War II and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Northview Assembly of God and the Gideons International.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ballard of Meridian; children, Daniel Ballard and his wife, Sharron, of Madison, John Ballard of Jackson, Joe Ballard of Hickory, Keith Ballard and his wife, Sheila, of Meridian, Mike Ballard and his wife, Susan, of Lynwood, Janice Shirley of Jackson and Leslie Irby and her husband, Vern, of Enterprise; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynn Ballard.
Pallbearers will be members of the military.
Memorials may be made to Bibles at East Camp Gideons.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

BUTLER, Ala. Services for Ona Kelley Gunnels will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Toxey Baptist Church with the Revs. Rebecca Harper and Mack Tester officiating. Burial will be in Bogueloosa Cemetery in Land, Ala. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gunnels, 96, of Toxey, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler.
Survivors include her sons, Billy Gunnels of Toxey, Winston Gunnels of Pennington, Ala., and Gerald Gunnels of Cartersville, Ga.; daughters, Beatrice Gunnels Robinson of Needham, Mirian Gunnels of Toxey and Carol Gunnels Manley of Pennington; a sister, Ethyl Kelley of Butler; 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Gunnels; a son, Sidney Earl Gunnels; and a daughter, Mary Skinner.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Earl Dewitt Vick will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at West Kemper Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vick, 67, of DeKalb, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be Tuesday 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service on Wednesday.
Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Retha Smith, 58, of Meridian, who died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Franklin D. "D.D." Hawkins, 70, of Meridian, who died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
