Lady Trojans grab pair of wins at Northeast Park

The Northeast Lady Trojans took a pair of wins on Saturday at Northeast Park in slow-pitch softball action.
Northeast (4-2) took out Wayne County 9-1 and then beat Quitman 12-3 to sweep the afternoon.
The Lady Trojans used good hitting and great defense in the game with the Lady Panthers to take the victory.
Northeast jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Quitman with three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Kara Hull singled and Shelley Odom reached on an error to start the rally.
After a groundout, Jennifer Bristow reached on an error that allowed two runners to score to make the score 2-0.
Bristow later scored on a single by Jessica Love to make the score 3-0 after two innings.
Quitman answered with three runs in the top of the third inning. Abby Scott reached on an error and Allison Herring singled.
A double by Anna Fontenot brought in Scott to make the score 3-1. Lindsey Martin followed with an RBI groundout and Autumn Satcher tied the game with a sacrifice fly.
Northeast continued to hit the ball well and scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Jayme Gardner and Hull each singled to start the rally. Odom's ground ball got past the third baseman to load the bases and Amber Gray brought in two runs with a single.
Bristow followed with a triple over the right fielder's head to bring in two more runs to make the score 7-3. Kim Crawford brought in the final run of the inning with a groundout.
Northeast added four runs in the fourth inning to secure the victory.
Capri Norris and Jana Olczak singled to start the big inning. Gardner brought in a run with a single and Hull followed with an RBI single.
Odom continued the rally with a single and an error allowed two runners to score to make the score 12-3.
Wayne County 1
Northeast jumped out to an early lead against the Lady War Eagles and held on for the 8-1 victory.
The Lady Trojans scored four runs in the first inning using a lot of walks and a couple of errors.
Odom had an RBI walk and Gray brought in a run with a fielder's choice. Bristow singled in a run and an error allowed the fourth run to score.
The Lady Trojans added four runs in the second inning. Norris, Olczak and Hull singled to start the inning and Odom singled in two runs. Gray and Bristow each had an RBI single to make the score 8-0.
Northeast added a run in the sixth inning on a single by Hull.
Wayne County scored a run in the seventh inning, but the Lady Trojans held on for the 9-1 victory.
Northeast will be back in action on Friday when it travels to play Enterprise.
