Meridian native Ashley Singletary returns to the Alpha School of Dance after graduating summa cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi Honors College with degrees in dance performance and choreography and English.
While Singletary studied with Mary Alpha Donnelly for many years in Meridian, she has also studied with New York choreographers Mark Haim, David Dorfman and Bebe Miller as well as choreographer and teacher Ming Yang from China.
Singletary has recently returned from the American Dance Festival, where she studied various dance forms including aerial dance with world-renowned Argentinean choreographer Brenda Angiel.
Singletary's own choreography has been presented at the Bates Dance Festival in Lewiston, Maine; the American Dance Festival; and various venues in Hattiesburg.
In addition to teaching at the Alpha School of Dance, she has also taught at the USM Community Arts School and the Hattiesburg Boys &Girls Club.
Singletary said she is looking forward to teaching at the Alpha School of Dance this fall and thanks Mary Alpha for showing her so many years ago the opportunities the world of dance holds for her.
