The Christmas season is nearly upon us and that means it's time to start thinking about taking part in Meridian's annual Holiday Parade.
The Meridian Downtown Association announced today that the 2003 Holiday Parade date has been set for Dec. 4.
This year's theme is "My Favorite Christmas Story."
The Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held the same day, at 5:30 p.m., at Meridian City Hall. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Meridian.
Prizes will be awarded for an overall winner and first, second and third in commercial and non-commercial divisions.
But, mostly, Gibson said, the parade is a chance to have fun while thinking about the true meaning of Christmas.
Applications are now being accepted for the parade. Line-up Committee Chairman Michelle Pearson said information will be e-mailed to all past participants on Oct. 15.
If you do not receive an application by e-mail or would like to be a new participant, please call Pearson at 482-6699 after Oct. 15.
