Editor's Note: The following article is correction of Thursday's Meridian Star story. The correct name of the signee for MCC is Cody Abrams. The Star regrets the error.
Northeast Lauderdale High School soccer standout Cody Abrams signed with Meridian Community College Wednesday.
Abrams started playing soccer at five years old, and has played on the first string varsity soccer team at Northeast since eighth grade. He played on the 2001 State of Mississippi America's Cup Championship Team, and has won bronze, silver, and gold medals in the State Games of Mississippi.
Abrams was recently selected as a United States All American Scholar, and recorded a 26 on the ACT. Thompson was also inducted into the 2002-2003 National Honor Roll.
Abrams said knowing players on the soccer team at MCC helped his decision.
Meridian Community College head soccer coach Alex George said Abrams will be a great addition to MCC.
George also said the MCC soccer program is coming along since it was started two years ago.
