special to The Star
Bonita Lakes Mall is looking for nonprofit organizations interested in having fun while making extra money.
The mall will host the second annual "Night of Giving" on Nov. 16, a private sale event to benefit nonprofit organizations in the trade area.
Last year, CBL malls raised over $5 million for charities through the "Night of Giving" event. CBL manages more than 50 malls in some 25 states.
A number of nonprofit groups were sent letters last week inviting their participation. Any group that did not receive an invitation is welcome to participate. Information is available from the mall office at (601) 693-3433 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Participating organizations will have wristbands available for a $5 donation. To take advantage of the great offers that will be available from mall merchants that evening, prospective shoppers must make a $5 donation to a participating organization. All proceeds benefit the organization selling the wristbands.
Wristbands will be provide by the mall at no cost to the organization and should be sold for $5 each. Children 12 and under will be admitted free with an adult sporting a wristband.
Exclusive discounts, special gifts with purchase and other great offers will be available exclusively to "Night of Giving" shoppers. All mall small shops will be open as well as most department stores.
Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening and special entertainment will take place throughout the center during the three-hour event.
White said mall management hopes the sale will get area shoppers excited about the upcoming holiday season. The sale, White said, will be a great preview to what will be hot for the holidays.
A list of participating groups will be posted at the mall's Customer Service Center and at the mall's Internet web site at www.bonitalakesmall.com.
