Rachael Purcell Evans and Frank Allyn Williford of Montgomery, Ala., were married Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Mount Sterling Methodist Church near Butler, Ala. The Rev. Joseph H. Reams, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church of Ozark, Ala., officiated.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. James Dansby Evans of Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Rendell Lewis Taylor of Tuscaloosa, and Frank Grouby Williford of Montgomery.
Grandparents of the bride are William Gordon Paul of Butler, the late William Homer Morris of Geneva, Ala., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Henry Evans of Butler.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Archibald Churchill Houston of Union Springs, Ala., Mrs. Henry Newton Williford of Auburn, Ala., and the late Colonel Williford.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Margaret Snyder, violist; Wayne Linehan, trumpeter; and a accompanying cellist and violinists.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of white re-embroidered English lace enhanced with an A-line skirt and chapel-length train. Her chapel-length veil was of Brussels lace.
Mrs. John Nelson Coleman of Birmingham, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Other attendants were Stacy Chapman Dickerson and Martha Ann Wright Johnson, both of Birmingham, Patricia DuMont Ezell of Tuscaloosa, Kinnon Himes Fisher of Montgomery, Ala., Ginger Kay Hardage of Atlanta and Abby Lauren Taylor of Tuscaloosa, sister of the bridegroom.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Albert Johnson Arrington of Prattville, Ala., Brent Boswell of Montgomery, John Nelson Coleman of Birmingham, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, James Dansby Evans Jr. of Butler, brother of the bride, and Billy Ray Renfroe II of Montgomery.
Acolyte and crucifer were cousins of the bride, Sarah Dansby Suggs of Decatur, Ala., and Ann Evans Andrews of Birmingham. Lay readers were the bride's aunt and uncle, Marcita Evans Smith of Tuscaloosa and David Drew Morris of Newnan, Ga.
A reception was held at the Choctaw Country Club following the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in Saint Lucia, the couple resides in Montgomery, Ala.
