The Nu Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Meridian Community College is participating in "Project Graduation … Feed a Body, Feed a Mind" designed to alleviate hunger and illiteracy in the community.
Graduating students and guests are asked to bring non-perishable food items and books particularly children's books to the graduation ceremony May 17 at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center.
Donations also are welcomed before graduation night.
A donation drop-off site will be positioned at the Phi Theta Kappa booth at the upcoming Community Day scheduled to take place at Bonita Lakes Mall on Saturday. All collected items will be delivered to Wesley House.
In addition, when PTK holds its spring induction March 23 at MCC's McCain Theater, donations also will be accepted.
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society. It is the largest of its kind, with approximately 90,000 members inducted annually and 1,200 chapters world wide.
