Pat Fordice, former wife of former Gov. Kirk Fordice, will be in Meridian Thursday for "Dessert with Mrs. Fordice."
The event will begin at 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Central United Methodist Church and is limited to 300 people due to space. The event is free, but tickets are needed for admission.
Genie Durden, president of Lauderdale County Triad, the group sponsoring the event, said some tickets are still available at the Meridian Senior Citizens Center.
Lauderdale County Triad is an organization that is a combination of groups associated with senior citizens and law enforcement agencies that work together to provide services and information to seniors to improve their safety.
She said plans include having a policeman or a deputy seated at each table with senior citizens.
Maj. Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said the program will encourage senior citizens to get to know their local law enforcement officers and to continue to work with the agencies.
Genie Durden, president of Lauderdale County Triad, said time also will be taken during the event to show appreciation for law enforcement officers.
