Local firefighters going to bat for MDA, again

By Staff
Russellville firefighters are having a poker run next week to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), also known as "Jerry's Kids", in addition to the nationwide fill the boot campaign.
MDA helps children and adults who are affected by the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA's comprehensive medical services and research programs, and the money raised by Russellville Fire Department stays in North Alabama.
On July 21, a Poker Run motorcycle ride will take place.
Registration will begin at Fire Station No. 2 at 8:30 a.m.
The first bike will leave at 9:30, and the last bike at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $15 to enter, plus $10 dollars for additional riders or cards.
These fundraisers are important to those suffering with these diseases. Money means funding for research and medical treatment, which can make the world of difference in the quality of life for patients.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in these events, and give from the heart to this cause.
You will not find a better cause in which to give.
It is exceptional that the Russellville Fire Department will go above and beyond to help raise money for this cause. They are working hard so that the lives of children and adults can be greatly improved.
Thank you for caring for our community so much to work so hard, and to all of those who plan on participating and giving to this cause, thank you for caring enough to give from the heart.
