BELGREEN- The students in the Community Education summer program have had extra fun this summer through the summer camp program, which will run through July 26.
Each week brings a different camp ranging from sports to princesses and knights.
"We wanted to do something different every week to make the experience fun for the children," program coordinator Stacy Akins said.
During the weeks of camp, the children get to dress up in that week's theme and make coordinating arts and crafts. '
"Each week we try to teach something new, like the importance of manners during princess and knights week," Akins said.
In addition to fun crafts and themed activities, the students at the camps got to meet visitors including Miss Northwest Alabama Nicole Nix.
"The children love the visitors," Akins said. "They have all had a great time."
The cost of the three-day camps is only $15 per week with lunch included, and there are still two weeks left for the camps.
July 17-19 will be Crazy Carnival week. The students will play games and win a prize just like a real carnival. They will have popcorn, cotton candy and will make carmel apples. The emphasis for this week will be counting, according to the camp schedule.
Then, from July 24-26, it will be time for Water, Water Everywhere week. This week students are encouraged to bring their swimsuits, sunscreen, water toys, and water guns for fun in the sun.
