Lewis Leon Sherrill, Sr., age 82, of Phil Campbell, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007.
Funeral services were yesterday, Tuesday, July 17 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Bro. Joe Holmes and Bro. Jarvis Brewer officiated the service. Interment was at Phil Campbell City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bailey Berlin, Brett Riner, Dave Luck, Ronald Sherrill, Barry Sherrill and Samuel O. Sherrill.
He was a member of the baptist church, a founding member of the Phil Campbell Cemetery Board, member of the VFW and post adjutant of Phil Campbell American Legion, and a WWII veteran, having served in Austria and Germany.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shellie Nell Sherrill; son Arthur Wade Sherrill and wife, Tammy; brother, Samuel "Bo" Sherrill and wife, Jackie; sister, Marcel Sherrill Wood and husband, Orbie; grandchildren, Shelana Luck and husband Dave, Jaclyn Thomas and husband Jason, Hollie Sherrill, Bailey Berlin, and Grace Berlin; and five great-grandchildren.
The family extend its gratitude to Dr. Keith Morrow, Russellville ICU nurses, Mid South Home Health and especially Sonya McQuarry.
He was preceded in death by son, Lewis Leon Sherrill, Jr.; parents, Robert Hugh Sherrill and Dussie Thompson Sherrill; brothers, Hugh G. Sherrill, Thurston Sherrill; and sister, Virginia Sherrill Bowen.
