RED BAY- The Red Bay City Council viewed a presentation on a fire truck during the regular council meeting held Monday night.
Sunbelt Fire Representative Slate McLendon presented the council with options on purchasing a new fire truck through the company. McLendon brought a fire truck with him to display for the council members.
Fire Chief Bud Strickland said that the city will have to make an emergency purchase of a fire truck because the department is down to two trucks.

While the department only has two trucks right now, Strickland said that the city has adequate fire protection.
However, the council will need to purchase a new truck or risk a spike homeowners' insurance rates.
Red Bay has been shopping for a fire truck for a few weeks, including both used and new models.
"The used truck was about $113,000 and that was too much," Strickland said. "The council wanted to see what a new truck would cost."
Strickland said that the new fire truck would run the city about $150,000.
