Help Troopers and police 'Take Back Our Highways'
By Staff
Later this month, hundreds and thousands of Alabamians will take to the streets en route to the homes of their loved ones.
Holiday travel, despite the near-record highs of gas prices, is not expected to decline significantly.
In 2006 in Alabama, during the 102-hour holiday period (6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, through midnight Sunday, Nov. 26), 19 persons were killed in traffic crashes.
That's 19 too many.
We encourage those of you who will be traveling to buckle up and drive safely. We also encourage you to allow yourself enough time to get to and from your destinations.
Those football games and turkey legs will be there when you get there. Your loved ones' holidays would be marred for years to come if something happened to you on the way to see them.
