RED BAY – The Red Bay Police Department honored two of its staff members at their 2007 department awards Monday night during the city council meeting.
Police Chief Pat Creel presented Assistant Chief Janna Jackson with a plaque for the city's Officer of the Year and Stephen Moore was named Dispatcher of the Year.
"They were selected by their peers for this award," Creel said, adding Jackson and Moore do an outstanding job for the department.
"Stephen has really stepped up to the plate in the last year," Creel said.
Moore has been a dispatcher with the Red Bay Police Department since October 2000, and this is the second time he has been bestowed this award.
"I was an honor to be selected," Moore said. "I was a little bit surprised."
Jackson has been a member of the Red Bay Police Department since 1996 and was promoted to Assistant Chief in 1998. This is also Jackson's second time receiving the Officer of the Year award.
"I was really surprised," Jackson said. "I really didn't expect it."
