St. Paul's upsets Briarwood for 5A championship
BIRMINGHAM – Briarwood Christian senior Jake Moorer blocked a St. Paul's punt with nine seconds left and Walker May returned the kick eight yards for a touchdown to pull the Lions to within one point, 14-13.
That dramatic play was topped just moments later when Joshua Lancaster slipped through to get his hands on Matthew Gordon's extra-point try, blocking the kick and preserving St. Paul's first football title in school history.
Central captures Class 4A title
BIRMINGHAM – Two big defensive plays and a clutch fourth-down pass completion – all in the second quarter – ignited second-ranked Central Falcons at Legion Field Thursday night and the Tuscaloosa school captured its first state title since 1995 in the process with the 34-7 win over fifth-ranked Deshler (12-3).
Leroy repeats as Class 2A champs
BIRMINGHAM – Leroy junior quarterback Clint Moseley passed for 243 yards and three touchdowns and the third-ranked Bears won their second consecutive Class 2A state championship at Legion Field Friday afternoon, 25-20 over top-ranked Fyffe.
Sweet Water wins Class 1A title
BIRMINGHAM – Senior running back Anthony Landrum rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries and captured his third Super 6 Class 1A championship game MVP award as the top-ranked Bulldogs won 42-7 over second-ranked Talladega County Central.
Millenium Run

The annual Millenium Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will be held Monday, December 31.
