WATERLOO – Drew Holcombe passed for 257 yards and three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Waterloo to a 43-16 win.
The Cougars took the lead in the first period when Holcombe ran 19 yards for a score.
Tharptown came back to take the lead when quarterback Tyler Cagle connected with Manny Ricardo for 36 yards and a touchdown. The two-point conversion gave the Wildcats an 8-7 lead.
That lead was short lived as Waterloo recaptured the lead for good on its next possession on an 8-yard run by Bradley Kelley.
Waterloo (3-0, 2-0) added three more scores in the second quarter.
Holcombe passed to Dillon Sharp for four yards and a touchdown, Sharp ran 29 yards for a score, and Holcombe passed to Rusty Mills for 22 yards and the final score of the half.
Waterloo added another touchdown in the third and a field goal in the fourth quarter.
Tharptown (0-3, 0-3) scored late in the fourth period. The Wildcats will host Phillips Friday.
