A Russellville man is being held without bond after authorities found a methamphetamine lab in his garage.
Police Chief Chris Hargett said James Harold Grissom, also known as Jim Grissom, 43, of Lawrence Street in Russellville, was arrested last week for first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
"Officials with the sheriff's department went to the residence to serve a bad check warrant when another person living there asked them to search the garage due to suspicious activity," Hargett said.
Authorities found numerous items used to make meth and evidence that at least one meth cook had occurred there.
According to the Alabama Criminal Code, first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance is a Class A felony, which carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison upon conviction.
Grissom remains in the Franklin County Detention Center on a suspended sentence from an unrelated case.
