Charges against couple dropped in city court

Domestic violence charges filed against a Russellville couple in February were dismissed Tuesday night in Russellville Municipal Court.

City prosecutors and defense attorneys representing a couple involved in a child custody dispute agreed to record the charges as ‘nol prosse,’ which means they were not prosecuted, but not completely dropped.

Brent Steven Caldwell, 43, and Kelley McKinney Caldwell, 41, both of 501 Washington Ave. in Russellville, were both charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment along with other domestic violence charges.

The couple’s attorney, Billy Underwood, said the agreement leaves open the possibility that the charges could be looked at again if further complaints are made, but he does not expect that to happen.

“This is a child visitation situation gone wild,” Underwood said.

“I have filed something in Franklin County Circuit Court against his ex-wife.”
