Lady Wildcats blow out Lady Panthers

THARPTOWN — The Tharptown Lady Wildcats picked up an impressive win against the Hackleburg Lady Panthers Wednesday afternoon with an 11-1 victory in six innings.

“I’m proud of the girls,” Tharptown head coach Susie Sellers said. “This is how they’re capable of playing. We got a late start because of basketball, but we’re finally starting to click.”

The Lady Panthers scored their lone run in the top of the first, but the game was pretty much over after the bottom of the inning.

Brae Sellers brought in Savannah Hamilton followed by RBI singles from Shelby Palmer and Haley Malone. Chloe Lane scored Malone and Kaitlyn Vandiver on an RBI double, followed by an RBI double by Erika Sparks. Autumn Sutter ended the big inning for Tharptown with an RBI single, making the score 7-1.

Sparks and Sutter stole home on wild pitches in the bottom of the third to extend the Lady Wildcats lead. Sutter touched home plate again on a wild pitch in the fifth after stealing second and third.

Kassy Baker scored the game-ending run for Tharptown when she was brought in by Vandiver on an RBI single in the sixth.
