FCSO website aids in arrest of man on run since July

Thanks in large part to the resources on the new Franklin County Sheriff’s Office website, a Russellville man wanted in connection with the severe beating of his girlfriend was located and taken into custody on Wednesday, officials said.
Aron Juan Butler, 33, 115 Truman Jackson Road, Russellville, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.
According to Oliver, the charges are the result of two separate incidents – one that took place on May 28 and another that took place on July 5.
Oliver said in the May 28 incident, Butler is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, who suffered a broken leg during that attack.
During the July 5 incident, Oliver said Butler is accused of attacking his girlfriend again, resulting in severe internal injuries to her neck and lungs.
Oliver said she had to be hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Huntsville Hospital for three days because of the injuries she suffered on July 5.
Oliver said after the last incident, Butler reportedly left town and law enforcement officials had been unable to locate him until someone finally recognized him this week.
“We received information from a person who had seen Butler’s picture on our website and in the news and recognized him,” Oliver said.
“The person told us Butler was in Huntsville and gave us the address where he could be located.
“We contacted the U.S. Marshals on Wednesday morning after receiving the tip and they were able to take him into custody around noon at the residence we were given.”
Oliver said the sole purpose of the sheriff’s office new website was to offer resources to the community in an effort to reduce crime and make the community a safe place.
“We have been searching for Butler since the beginning of July and we are glad we were able to finally locate him and take him into custody,” Oliver said.
“Since the website launched with our ‘Most Wanted’ section, we’ve been able to make two arrests from that list, including Butler.
“It just goes to show what can be accomplished through teamwork and community involvement and we appreciate people in the community who take an interest in assisting us in cases like these.”
