Man accused of stealing 70 mobile home tires

PHIL CAMPBELL – A Franklin County man was arrested on Monday after officers say they found over 70 stolen mobile home tires at his residence.

Thomas Brandon Wilson, 30, 164 Douglas St., Phil Campbell, was arrested for first-degree theft of property, second-degree theft of property, and two counts of criminal trespassing.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, investigators received a call at the end of May that 40 mobile home tires had been stolen from Continental Axle in Phil Campbell.

Oliver said an investigation was opened at the time and officials at the business began doing daily inventory in order to check for any other missing tires.

Oliver said sheriff’s investigators received a call over the weekend that 70 more tires had been stolen.

Oliver said as the investigation progressed, Wilson was developed as a suspect.

“When investigators went to Mr. Wilson’s residence on Monday to question him about the theft, they discovered 72 mobile home tires at the residence,” Oliver said.

“These tires are valued at $45 each so that came out to more than $3,000 in stolen goods that was discovered at the residence.”

Investigators said Wilson was allegedly stealing the tires to re-sell them to a separate business in Phil Campbell that deals with mobile home parts.

Wilson is currently in custody at the Franklin County Jail.
