Name: Ponda Stults Gordon
Place of employment: Special needs paraprofessional at Russellville Middle School
Q: What is the best thing about your job?
A: The sweet, loving children in my class and the wonderful administrators, faculty and staff of the Russellville City School System.
Q: If you weren’t in your current profession, what would be your ideal job and why?
A: Proof reading books. I love to read, and it would be great to read and get paid for it.
Q: If you could change places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
A: I would change places with my husband, Elliott, only so I might have a better understanding when he is talking about programming computers.
Q: If you could sit down to dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
A: My great grandmothers, Granny Vickery and Granny Medley, so I could visit with them, tell them about my children and to thank them both for being such great Christian role models and telling me that God loves me above all else. It would be so great to see them one more time too because Granny Vickery always said don’t say you will never do something because you might have to. I found out that was true because I said I would never be a pastor’s wife but now I am!
Q: What’s the best present you’ve ever received?
A: A rabbit fur coat. I was thrilled because I was sure I was the only girl in 6th grade who was not getting one for Christmas, but I did.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Making chocolate drop cookies with my granny and jumping on the bed at her house because Mother would not let us jump on our beds.
Q: What do you think of as your greatest accomplishment in life?
A: My greatest accomplishment would be the birth of my two children, Katelynn and Charlie. I was also proud to be able to get my bus license in less than a week.
Q: If you only had one meal left, what would it be?
A: My Maw Maw Gert’s fried chicken and cream corn with a garden tomato.
Q: If you won a million dollars, what would be your first purchase?
A: My first purchase would be to pay for Katelynn and Charlie’s college education.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: Hawaii. That is where Elliot and I went on our honeymoon and it was beautiful.
Q: If you were the President of the United States, what would be the first law that you would enact?
A: I would do away with Obamacare.
Q: If you were in local government, what things would you change in the area?
A: I would like to bring in some new restaurants and some places for teenagers to be able to hang out locally, like a movie theater or a bowling alley.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about Franklin County?
A: I love how everyone helps each other out in a small town. Everyone is so friendly and will tell you to call them if you need anything. I also love that my children attended/are attending the same school system that Elliott and I attended.
Q: What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
A: I’m afraid to be anywhere by myself.
