Russellville burglar caught in the act

A Russellville man was arrested on burglary and theft charges Monday night after authorities said he broke into a local business.

Timothy Boyd Wilson, Jr., 31, 861 Franklin 48, Russellville, was charged with third-degree burglary, unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and three counts of first-degree theft of property, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.

According to Hargett, law enforcement received notification of a 911 hang-up call about 11 p.m. Monday.

Hargett said the call came from a business located in the 200 block of Carroll Avenue in Russellville.

Police investigator Sgt. Jake Tompkins said when officers responded to the scene, they discovered the property owner had the suspect detained.

“Apparently the suspect broke into the business and stole several items,” Tompkins said.

“He then broke into a truck located at the business and used it to transport the stolen items.”

Tompkins said one of the property owners, who lives near the business, came to the scene and actually caught the suspect retuning to the business in the vehicle after he had unloaded it.

Tomkins said the property owner confronted the suspect and held him until law enforcement was notified and responded to the scene.

According to Tomkins, the items that were stolen were recovered and returned to the owner.

As of press time, Wilson was in custody at the Russellville City Jail without bail.
